Glasgow International Airport

Glasgow Airport is the busiest of Scotland's three international airports. The airport has two runways handling in excess of 7 million passengers each year. This number is anticipated to rise steeply with the introduction of new “no frills” destinations to Europe and Canada. More than 40 airlines use Glasgow airports two runways flying to over 80 destinations. Check-in is located in the middle of the ground-floor concourse. Domestic arrivals is located on the right of the ground-floor concourse and international arrivals is on the left of the ground-floor concourse. Terminal two at Glasgow Airport was opened in the summer of 2004. It has been built to meet the growing demand from low cost airlines and charter companies. The new extension incorporates 24 check in desks. Terminal 2 One has one of the world's most sophisticated baggage screening systems and is capable of handling one and a half million passengers per year. The “no frills” operators easyJet, Thomas Cook and MyTravel are the major users of the new terminal.

Airport Location
The airport is located 8 miles west of Glasgow. The airport is about 20-25 minutes drive from Glasgow City Centre and about 5 minutes from Paisley, the closest town. The main road access is via Junction 28 of the M8 motorway. The M8 can become heavily congested particularly during the morning and evening rush hours. View Glasgow International Airport Map

Car Parks at Glasgow International Airport
From Glasgow exit the M8 at J28. At first roundabout get in the left hand lane. At the second roundabout take 1st exit into the one way system and into St Andrews Drive West. Follow the signs for Car Park 2 staying in the middle lane. Follow signs showing "Car Parks & Buses". The entrance to Car Park 2 is immediately past the Holiday Inn hotel on the right hand side. Coming from St.James interchange take exit for Glasgow Airport, turn left into the one way system and then follow directions as for the M8 at J28 above.

Long Stay Parking at Glasgow Airport
From Glasgow, exit M8 at J28. At the 1st roundabout take 1st exit right along Sanderling Road. Continue along this road, negotiating the second roundabout and continue to the roundabout at junction of Sanderling Road and Abbotsinch Road. Take 1st exit left onto Abbotsinch Road, follow road to next roundabout and turn right into Arran Avenue. The Long Stay Car Park entrance is on the left. From the direction of St.James Interchange, take the exit for Glasgow Airport. Turn left into the one way system and follow signs for Long Stay.

Check-in and Arrivals
Glasgow Airport’s Check-In area is situated in the centre of the ground floor concourse, in front of entrances 2,3 and 4, there are currently 38 Check In desks. This Check In area is for both International and Domestic flights. There is an information desk in front of the lane to Check In number 1. This concourse also houses Domestic Arrivals, located on the right hand side of the ground floor concourse and international Arrivals on the left hand side of the ground floor concourse. The Domestic Baggage reclaim area is also on this concourse. There is a branch of WH Smith, a bureau de change, a flower shop and a bar restaurant in this area, in addition to the car rental companies booths.

Glasgow International Airport Opening Hours
Glasgow Airport opening times are generally between 05:00 to 22:30, although the terminal is kept open to receive late inbound flights.
