Aldershot Travel Guide

Then came the Crimean war, when the government requisitioned 25,000 acres of land and transformed the area into Britain’s largest garrison town. Aldershot today in addition to a number of traditional museums boasts six military museums.
The town centre is a blend of Victorian architecture and the generally less attractive aesthetically pleasing purpose built shops and offices. Much of the town centre is now pedestrianised, and has all the high street nationals and the Wellington Shopping centre.
As one would expect from a military town Aldershot has no shortage of pubs and clubs as well as a good range of slightly more cerebral forms of entertainment.
