Bahamas Travel Guide
The Bahamas Islands, where Christopher Columbus first set foot in the New World, is an island chain in the North Atlantic Ocean only 50 miles off the Florida coast. With coconut trees towering over crescent beaches and the clear blue sea lapping along the coast, the Bahamas is a beach bum's haven. Take part in a yoga retreat on one of the island's many uncluttered beaches to set your spirit free or swim with the dolphins in Bimini before exploring the artists colony at Tarpum Bay. Pose with the thousands of pink flamingos in their sanctuary on Inagua Island or enjoy the non-stop action of Freeport on Grand Bahama Island. Nassau, the capital city is located on the island of New Providence and offers a wealth of cosy inns, unique galleries, great shopping and the famous Cable Beach. Only minutes from the airport you can literally step off the plane and be lounging on the beach within half an hour, how’s that for convenience! With several hotel complexes peppered along the beach, Cable has become the most popular and most populous Bahamian resort.
The smaller islands are not to be overlooked, make them a part of an island hop excursion. Conception Island where over 30 shipwrecks are left to be discovered creates the ideal diving adventure playground. The Blue Lagoon on the other hand, home to bottle nosed dolphins is the perfect hide away.
Setting the Bahamas apart from other island destinations is the fresh Bahamian hospitality. The Bahamian zest for life will put you at ease, so much so you might not want to leave.
