Chester Travel Guide

The top attraction is of course the 3-kilometre walk along the wall, which takes you past most of the
places of interest in the city. These include the Eastgate
Clock – the most photographed time piece in the world after Big Ben, The Roman Amphitheatre –
the largest of its kind to be excavated in the UK, Chester Cathedral – the fourth
most visited in Britain, and probably the second most popular of Chester’s
attractions the Rows –
two-tier Medieval galleries which houses the cities most up market shopping
centre.
The adjacent River Dee
also plays an important part in the city’s calendar playing host to the oldest rowing race
in the world at the annual Regatta and on the sight of the massive Roman
harbour you’ll also find the oldest racecourse
in the country. Probably the most famous of Chester’s attractions is the Zoo, the biggest and best in Britain
with international renown for its success with animal conservation. As you can
see Chester has an awful lot to offer but probably the best attraction of all
is its striking beauty and pleasant small town atmosphere, which combine to
make a truly memorable trip.
