Kendal

The town is overlooked by the ruins of 12^th century Kendal Castle and those wanting to learn more about this once magnificent edifice should visit Kendal Museum, which houses and exhibition dedicated to it that includes a reconstruction. The Parish Church, Holy Trinity, dates back to the 13^th century but today it is predominantly 18^th century, it is however the largest parish church in Cumbria.

Art lovers should check out Abbot Hall Art Gallery, which plays host to major exhibitions. Other attractions include the Museum of Lakeland Life, Museum of Natural History and Archaeology and the Quaker Tapestry.

Of course most visitors who come to Kendal are to explore the lovely surrounding countryside and lakes but in the evenings what could be nicer than winding down in a cosy restaurant or friendly pub and talk about your days adventure.
