Manchester Travel Guide

The regeneration is ongoing and some areas of the city do resemble vast building sites, but if you look around there is plenty of wonderful architecture and fascinating areas to be found. On the whole Manchester is a city that respects and caters for the young
and young at heart and those with any sort of artistic bent cannot help but be
inspired by it. In short Manchester is quite possibly the most happening city
in England.
Hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2002 has help the city’s profile
no end and the City of
Manchester Stadium is certainly destined to attract visitors from around
the world. The cities other international sporting success, Manchester United are also a great attraction
as fans travel from the four corners of the world to visit the hallowed ground
known as Old
Trafford. The city’s other recent success is the Lowry a state of the art gallery and
exhibition centre built for the Millennium celebrations and home to some of the
most revered and controversial pieces of art in the world.
Of course Manchester being Manchester most visitors come for the nightlife, which is
rivalled only by London and Edinburgh. What makes Manchester different is the
citizens’ love of their own culture something that seems to be reflected in
many of the and clubs across the vast city. Once the industrial centre of the
British Empire the city has a thoroughly cosmopolitan population, which becomes
strikingly apparent when you look what the city has to offer in the way of
entertainment from Reggae
concerts to Blues and
Jazz Clubs, state of the art dance
clubs to retro bars and
live music
venues the choice is wonderfully eclectic. In turn the food available is
also wildly varied – Chinese,
Jamaican, Italian, Indian, Mexican you name it. The City still has some way to
go but Mancunians being what they are you just know that in just a few years
Manchester will have been completely transformed from an industrial wasteland
to one of the premiere destinations on the tourist map.
