Matlock

Matlock Bath was developed in the mid 19th century very much as a fashionable resort to take at which to take the waters. John Smedley’s huge Hydro spa centre built in 1853 cemented Bath’s reputation as a popular tourist destination. Today Matlock Bath is very much in the tourist business with amusement arcades, gift shops and numerous cafes and restaurants.

Matlock has a good range of retail stores including a number of major national multiples and a good selection of speciality shops.
