Tenerife Travel Guide
Often referred to as the Caribbean of Europe, Tenerife is situated just off the northern coast of Africa. The largest of the Canary Islands, it enjoys constant good weather, making it an ideal holiday choice all year round. To the north of the island is a tropical paradise, strewn with palm trees, banana plantations and exotic plant life, whilst the interior abounds with breathtakingly beautiful landscape. These amazing contrasts are as much responsible for the islands continued popularity as the superb weather. Consequently, Tenerife offers holidaymakers an endless choice of things to see and do.
The most popular resort on the island is Playa de Las Americas, a thriving town with several excellent beaches, some with Tenerife’s famous black volcanic sand and some with golden sand but all lined with a variety of shops, bars and restaurants. In the centre of Las Americas is the pulsating heart of the island with is plethora of bars discos and nightclubs providing superb entertainment until the early hours. Another popular resort is Cos Cristianos. A good deal quieter than Las Americas, it still retains elements of its fishing village origins. Here the town centre is blocked off to traffic and although the nightlife is limited is a very popular place to shop or relax over a drink in one of its many bars.
Tenerife is a paradise in many ways, more or less anything you want from a holiday in the sun can be found there. It is a friendly exciting place. It is a relaxing secluded place. It really is an island of plenty in every sense of the word.
