Only two miles away from The Valley, is Sandy Ground, which is both sandy by name and sandy by nature. The area is a popular spot, due to its white sands, clear blue sea and diving opportunities, with a nearby diving store providing visitors with the full gear. Sandy Ground’s bay is protected and is Anguilla's main harbour entrance for yachts. Birdwatchers will find the regions’ outer salt pond full of stilts, egrets, herons and other wading birds, especially at the areas much quieter, northern end.
