Barbados - The Southern Beaches

Predominantly tourist orientated, the southern coast of Barbados has some of the best beaches you’ll find anywhere in the world. Sandy Beach in Christ Church is a favourite with young children as it is relatively quiet and lapped by clear, shallow waters. When the tide is out you can often walk to the reef and explore it on foot; when it’s in snorkelling is just as much fun. There are also watersports, refreshment and bar facilities. Accra is more popular and body boarding seems to be the sport of choice. Not so much a beach as a market on the seashore the sand is strewn with vendors selling local handicrafts. Enterprise Beach is another favourite with children who congregate in large numbers during weekends and holidays and is famed for its crystal clear water. Carlisle Bay combines a lovely beach with a boatyard complex whilst Silver Sands and Dover Beach offer excellent conditions for windsurfing.
