Located 215 miles from Minsk, on the border of Poland, is the busy road and rail area of Brest. The border town is full of Belarusians who spill over the border to have a half-day shopping trip. The town has a fortress, which kept its ground during WWII and stands proudly today as the No1 attraction in Brest and just to the west of the fortress are the remains of the old Nikolaivsky Church, which was once a section of a large monastery.
