The proudest city in Belarus is that of Hrodna, located 175 miles from Minsk, is the only city to withstand the destruction of WW11. The historic buildings in Hrodna were left virtually intact, but most of the town’s inhabitants, left the ancient city, after the war. Today though, the place is a cultural and industrial centre, full of activity and atmosphere, with Vulitsa Savetskaja being the most popular area within Hrodna, with its pretty cobble stoned paths and interesting shops and cafes.
