Only 3 hours away from the capital city of La Paz, across the Andean Range are the clammily humid forests of the Yungas Region. The area, which separates the High Andes from the Amazon Basin, is a mass of stunning valleys with a topography that has more ups and downs than a soap opera. As the Yungas region lies on the transition zone between humid lowlands and the drier highlands, there is an endless variety of fascinating landscapes, from lush steaming tropical lowland jungles to ethereal cloud forests brimming with amazing wildlife and an incomparable tranquility. It is possible to walk along the Inca trail through the Yungas Region, from la Paz to Coroico or even hire horses to ride along the rural fields and beautiful rivers. The Yungas region offers nature like you’ve never seen before plus a generous helping of Inca mystery – what more could anyone want?
