For a truly out of this world experience and a taste of real Africa hop into a dugout canoe and tour the mystique of the Okavango Delta. The miraculous Okavango Delta at the northern edge of the baked Kalahari Desert is a most unexpected wonder covering an area of some 10,000 square kilometres. This is the largest inland delta in the world. True nature lovers will maximise their time here by exploring the delta by mokoro, a traditionally dug out canoe. Take the time to find a reliable poler that may be able to point out some of the local plants birds and animals and you're in for a fascinating adventure. Home to Papyrus and Phoenix palms, fish eagles and kingfishers, hippos, crocodiles and elephants that thrive in the marshland, there is plenty to see. The 3000 sq km Moremi Wildlife Reserve is the only officially cordoned off part of the Okavango Delta and heaves with even more awe-inspiring creatures at which you can't help but marvel.
