Cambodia - Angkor Wat Temple

Cambodia sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

This three-level, structure took a long time to build, with the whole reason being to honour the Hindu god Vishnu. It’s the largest religious building in the world and took around 40 years to accomplish. Rectangular in shape, the temple is surrounded by a 200 metre wide moat and its main entrance is a half-a-kilometre-long paved walkway, furnished with banisters and bordered by man-made lakes. The lavish interior is richly decorated with scenes of wars, legends, everyday life and carvings of nearly 2,000 celestial dancers.
