Over the years Havana has changed into an area filled with palaces, castles and churches etc to attract the continuing throng of visitors, desperate for a bit of culture. The residential areas, however, remain untouched, causing around three hundred buildings to subside every year! Sights not-to-be-missed include the Plaza de la Catedral, a popular square full of camera-clicking tourists, especially at the weekends when the square has its craft markets. Within the heart of the square are the Catedral de San Christóbal de La Habana towers and close by is the Castillo de la Real Fuerza, the oldest existing regal fortress in the Americas.
