Denmark - Rosenborg Slot (Castle) & the Danish Crown Jewels

Built by the man who seems to have invented, built and put his name to more than enough in Denmark, the prolific King Christian IV began construction of this magnificent castle in 1603. Possibly one of the more flamboyant summer homes ever built, the castle, designed in true Dutch Renaissance style comes replete with moat and extensive pleasure gardens. These days, visitors can get away from the city’s noise and hassle in the castle’s peaceful surroundings whilst taking in it’s lavish interior which proudly displays the Royal Danish Collection and all the treasures of the Danish monarchy from the 15th to the 19th centuries. The jewel in the crown of all these treasures however, if you’ll pardon the pun are the Danish Crown jewels which are displayed in all their glory in the castle’s basement. International jewel thieves need not apply.
