There are some great trekking areas in Dominica, with the islands’ rivers, waterfalls and rainforests easily accessible from the larger towns and cities. Dominica’s Northern Forest Reserve has a pleasant hiking trail which leads visitors through a parrot reserve, with a more rocky and coarse trail further on, taking them to the top of Dominica’s highest mountain. Another two great hikes can be found at Morne Trois Pitons National Park, which takes walkers into lush, green jungles or on a full day’s trek across a sweltering volcanic valley and if that doesn’t make the visitors overheat, they’ll carry on to a hot and bubbling lake!
