Often referred to as the ‘Alps of the Caribbean’, Jarabacoa has the most spectacular scenery in the Dominican Republic. A small mountain town, it is a charming place away from the bustle of the bigger cities and resorts. The most exciting time is Saturday afternoon when youngsters head to Parque Central in search of fun and romance, but for those searching quaint restaurants serving truly mouth-watering delights it is virtually unmatched.
Of course most visitors head to Jarabacoa for the spectacular surrounding countryside and the wealth of exciting outdoor activities on offer. Climbing steep canyon walls, swimming at the base of one of the three wonderful waterfalls and the Rio Jimenoa, rafting down the only white water river in the country, trekking through untouched forests, paragliding, horseback riding… the list is endless. In truth your day trip to Jarabacoa might just turn into a few days of great fun and adventure
