Most of Quito’s very best restaurants are situated outside the tourist area about ten minutes walk from La Mariscal and offer a vast range of high quality international and local cuisine at remarkably inexpensive prices. You can choose between Japanese, Mediterranean, French, Italian, Chinese, Mexican and seafood or try authentic Ecuadorian beef, which is considered amongst the best in the world. Even at the most expensive restaurant in town a meal for two of ceviches (marinated seafood), steak and lobster and a bottle of decent wine will set you back less than £25/$35. Even if you’re on a budget you can actually get a decent meal for less that £2/$3.
