Falkland Islands - West Falkland

Falkland Islands sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

To the west of the Falkland Islands, visitors can enjoy plenty of hiking and wildlife watching. Due to the area having only one actual road though, 4WD would be a safer way to get to the destination of choice as the dirt tracks can get pretty bad in the wetter season. Walking to the south-western end of the island, visitors will come upon Port Stephens and its craggy headlands, where thousands of Rockhoppers and other types of seabirds dwell. Walking for another two hours, visitors will reach Calm Head, this area has an abandoned seal station and provides the exciting opportunity to see large colonies of penguins. Visitors can get to the island from Stanley or Mt. Pleasant by private boat charter or aircraft.
