The Tirergarten is several hundred acres of parkland chocka block full of great tourist attractions including the Berlin Zoo, the 75-meter high Siegessäule (Victory column), "Haus der Kulturen der Welt" (House for the Cultures of the World), the Bauhaus Archives, the Neue Nationalgalerie (National Art Gallery), the "Philharmonie" (Concert Hall) and the Staatsbibliothek (National Public Library). Often compared to New York’s Central Park it is a popular place for walking, picnics, sports and music events. At weekends it is also the local for a huge flea market.
