Munich - Alte Pinakothek Museum

The Alte Pinakothek Museum (Old Pinakothek) is one of the outstanding museums that make up the Bayerische Staatsgemaldesammlungen (Bavarian State Picture Galleries) along with the equally famous Neue Pinakothek, the Schack Gallery and a number of others. The Alte Pinakothek specialises in European painting from the Middle Ages through the late 18th century and contains the largest collection of Rubens paintings in the world. The building itself is as much a feature of the museum as the paintings inside and the wooden flooring is just as stunning as the Tate Gallery in London. A definite Munich must-see and free entry on Sundays.
