One of the many highlights of Kos town is a visit to the open archaeological site of ancient Agora in the north eastern district the site of several very important ruins on Doric and Hellenistic architecture many of which have been restored. One of the best free attractions in the whole of Greece it includes the ruins of the Temple of Hercules, a small temple and sanctuary dedicated to Aphrodite, the remains of a great arcade or ‘Stoa’, a market place, Temple of Dionysus, the Roman School of Music, a gymnasium or ‘Xysto’ and the House of Europa.
