In between modern buildings, located on each side of the street, is the well-know La Reforma Avenue. Built in 1897, the avenue runs from Calle 1 to Calle 20, along the border of Zones 9 and 10, and was designed with the intentions of reinventing Paris’ famous Champs Elysees. The boulevard, bejewelled with many monuments, has a constantly lit torch, symbolising Guatemala’s freedom and is considered part of the national heritage due to its creative and historical worth.
