This weird and wonderful place contains an endless network of underground passages, where crafts from the highlands are peddled from well-stocked stalls. All sorts are sold at the markets from wooden masks to woollen blankets, with prices much cheaper than anywhere else in the country. Fresh fruit and vegetable stands also thrive here and sell a wide variety of fruit, bringing wonderful smells into the air. Mercado Central is definitely worth a visit, but like any busy area, watch out for pickpockets throughout the market.
