Leiden is truly one of Holland’s gems. Often overlooked on the tourist trail, the city of Leiden remains quiet and gentile with a strong echo of days gone by. With outstanding architecture, historical walks and important museums Leiden is great place to explore on foot. The birthplace of Rembrandt himself and other great classic artists, the city is an example of great minds of the past. Besides being an impressive cultural city, Leiden is also in a prolific flower growing and market area making it abundantly beautiful in both landscape and economy. It really is a must see if in Zuid-Holland, especially if you are academically minded.
