Every Wednesday the small village of Anjuna in North India turns into a sea of colourful artefacts, international food stalls and eccentric people from around the globe. It is a true case of east meets west meets everywhere. The market is a major attraction for any visitor to Goa; it is a chance to absorb the hippie culture that was in full throttle in the seventies. If you are wishing to actually make a purchase be prepared to barter, the days of ‘free’ thinking amongst Goa hippies is long gone. The market opens in the morning and carries on full tilt ‘til after sunset. Transportation to Anjuna won’t be a problem; it is frequent and affordable on Wednesdays to draw the largest crowd as possible.
