Imagine a crescent shaped bay of fine white sand, fringed by swaying coconut palms. Imagine a deep blue ocean under an even deeper blue sky and you begin to see why Palolem is undoubtedly Goa's most beautiful and tranquil beach. Palolem however, is not virgin territory. Discovered a few years back by backpackers and budget travellers who love the raw quality, Palolem is no longer a secluded secret. The accommodation to cope with this tourist boom consists mainly of rickety wooden beach huts and a simple tent camp on the beachfront. Strings of cafes drape around the bay with sporadic souvenir stalls and Karnatakan hawkers, but for the most part, facilities are minimal. But, Palolem isn't about facilities; it's about roughing it in exchange for some pure, undiluted natural beauty.
