Goa - ‘Pork Vindaloo’

Goa sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

Indian cuisine is quite regionalized and can vary slightly or significantly depending on what part of the country you are in and Goa is no exception. Goan cuisine draws from many different influences making its food quite unique. The Hindus of Goa of course do not eat pork or beef whereas the Catholics do. In fact most non-Hindu Goans have food very closely resembling Portuguese since it was a colony of Portugal for over 450 years. With all that being said it is the ‘pork vindaloo’ that the island is famous for. Sweet smells of garlic, chile, tamarind and ginger fill the air wherever this delicacy is being prepared. A visit to Goa is a culinary delight – don’t miss a chance to try its signature dish.
