Bali - Eating from a Hawkers Cart

Bali sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

Indonesian cuisine is an absolute delight but an added bonus to filling your tummy is exploring the numerous overflowing hawker carts about. On display is an array of Indonesian snack food. Almost all carts (called kaki lima) will have yummy delicacies including peanuts in palm sugar, fried bananas and coconut cookies. Several fresh fruit stands are around as well offering starfruit, papaya and jackfruit, all indigenous to the area. Sates, coconut potatoes and barbequed fish are other delights that can often be found on the kaki lima. Be adventurous but be careful of undercooked meat and seafood. You don’t want a visit to the local hawker to spoil your trip
