As the unassuming neighbour of Bali, Lombok Island is one of Indonesia’s best kept secrets. Indeed, the motto is “You can see Bali from Lombok, but not Lombok from Bali”. The island remains largely untouched by Western tourism although Sengiggi and Kuta are the main hotspots of the island. A tourist hotspot in Lombok however, means a few laid back travellers searching for a great beach and some peace and relaxation. From the small black sand bays of Sengiggi, some of the most spectacular sunsets on the planet can be witnessed. The pace of life is slow to the point of stopping and the southern coast of Lombok has some of the most stunning beaches in Indonesia.
