If you need to escape the world of mobile phones, catalogues of e-mails, laptops, T.V’s, DVD’s and the like then make your way to the stunningly beautiful island of Nias. Not as accessible as Indonesia’s eastern islands, Nias has a remote nature to it that is clearly illustrated in its lack of western world luxuries. Accommodation is basic beach hut living, although since it’s recent popularity amongst the surfers of the world, a new resort as been built if you’re not up for roughing it. This is a true chill-out island, a place to unwind, recharge and rejuvenate. Nightlife and activities are minimal but the laid back freedom of the island is maxed out. Grab a few good reads, plonk yourself on the beach and see how long it takes you to get into island life.
