It’s on the country’s flag, but amazingly there’s hardly any cedar trees left in Lebanon! To have a look at the remaining trees, visitors need to go to Mont Makmal’s grove, 5 miles east of Bcharre. It’s a bit chilly at Mont Makal, as its 6,000 ft above sea level, but well worth the shivers to see the cluster of large old cedars, which live there. Visitors have to go through the areas park to get to the trees, which have an unusual piece of sculpture amidst them made out of the trunk of a dead tree, to save one from being cut down. Look out for the trees joined at the ‘hip’, named Adam and Eve!
