A natural wonder of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, the Jeita caves are abound with beautifully shaped stalagmites and stalactites. The summer season is the time when visitors can grab a boat ferry, taking them across a bottomless lake, the starting place of the Nahr al-Kalb, the Dog River, to see the grotto. To make the most of the time in the cave, visitors are best going when a concert is being staged, but if that is not possible there is usually a sound and light show occurring every so often.
