Getting into the more traditional areas of Lebanon is Tripoli, a typically Arab sort of place providing many medieval and Crusader-time type of areas. There’s a 12th-century castle, a Grand Mosque with bell tower, other mosques, theological schools and bathhouses, not forgetting time out to walk through the markets and pastries of Lebanon on Rue Tall, the areas main plaza. Last but not least, the city’s inns provide a well-earned rest to refresh and quench a visitor’s thirst!
