Maldives - The Giants Causeway

Maldives sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

On the coast of County Antrim amongst an area of great beauty and unique geological qualities stands The Giants Causeway the ‘eighth wonder of the world’. Witness to many a shipwreck the sixty million year old phenomenon has earned itself a firm place in local lore – apparently the Irish Giant Fionn Mac Cumhail formed the causeway in a fit of rage when he threw huge chunks of stone in the sea towards Scotland after a Scottish Giant (who couldn’t swim) made fun of his fighting ability. The causeway is comprised of some 40,000 basalt hexagons similar to natural features found in Hawaii and Lanzarote.
