Mexico - Teotihuacan

Mexico sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

Lying 50 km from the overgrown Mexico City is the archaeological zone Teotihuacan, the first great civilization of central Mexico. It is home to the Pyramid of the Sun, third largest pyramid in the world as well as the Pyramid of the Moon. During the 6th century A.D, Teotihucan was believed to be at its height with an empire housing over 200,000 people. In the 7th century it was completely wiped out. Imagine that, the world’s six largest city just disappearing. Teotihucan is an absolute must even if you’re not archaeologically minded.
