Norway - Oslo City Hall

Norway sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

A modern building, situated in the capital city of Oslo…the twin-towered city hall, opened in 1950, to commemorate the city’s 900th anniversary. Visitors entering the building will find the interior full of colourful murals and frescos, all designed by Norwegian painters. The hall contains plenty of information on Norwegian history and culture including data on Viking mythology. Visitors should look out for the gigantic oil painting of ‘Administration and Festivity’ by Sørensens, in the Central Hall, a way to symbolise the need to establish the right location for Oslo’s political administration.
