Connecting North and South America is a bridge, 118 meters in height and 1,669 meters wide. Once separated by the Panama Canal, the Bridge of the Americas, costing $20 million dollars, now forms an essential part of the Pan-American Highway. Visitors wanting to get a good photograph of the bridge need to go to either the rest stop / look out station found on the right side of the bridge, or El Amador, once a US Army Base, located below the bridge, where visitors will have a much broader view of the bridge.
