Quaint cobble stoned streets, pottery shops and art galleries…Aregua, 20km south of Asunción, on the bank of Lake Ypacarai, is a popular place with tourists, with handicrafts that visitors wont find anywhere else. Visitors get to Aregua via its own special train! Built in 1861, it’s the oldest steam engine in operation…definitely worth a photograph! The train stops in Luque first, a town established in 1636, which has stunning architecture and charisma, where Guaranis create string instruments and jewellery, then continues on to Aregua.
