Algarve - The Lagoa Area Wine

The small provincial town of Lagoa is renowned for its winery, and why not when it is the most productive in the Algarve. Grapes are grown in a wide radius around Lagoa where the soft sandy soil combined with a warm climate produces strong, rough ruby coloured red wines which age extremely well and are almost too easy to drink! The flavour is rich and distinct and both the red and the soft, full-bodied white wines from the Lagoa area have a relatively high alcohol content. Visitors to the area can observe the wine making process and perhaps more to the point, can sample the superb end product.
