Madeira sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

Being an island renowned for it’s deep-sea fishing as well as innumerable other claims to fame, Madeira has a fantastic range of sea food on offer at it’s many high quality restaurants. Delicacies particular to the region include swordfish and special tuna fish steaks called bifes along with a mouth-watering selection of other great seafood, fresh from the ocean. The local dried and salted cod fish – Bacalhau is available in many forms and is rather an acquired taste. There is also a sort of fish pie made with garlic potatoes and onions called bacalhau a mode de Gomes de Sá, which just has to be tried. With spectacular surroundings like nowhere else, a tasting of Madeira’s local produce is just the icing on the cake.
