Madeira - Machico Bay Beach

As the landing point of Madeira’s discoverers, Machico Bay Beach has both historical significance as well as outstanding natural beauty. The Beach at Machico Bay, with it’s soft golden sands and warm waters is set against a spectacular backdrop of steep luscious green hills creating a very private and secluded atmosphere. The beach has superb facilities for both swimming and sunbathing, the water is clear and safe in which to swim and there is plenty of sunshine to catch on the shore. The town itself boasts the oldest church on the island - 'Capela dos Milagres', not to mention two forts demonstrating the local’s defence against the many pirate attacks in days gone by. Machico Bay has a relaxed ambience and has plenty to do both on and off the beautiful beach.
