Lesotho is often referred to as ‘the kingdom in the sky’. It is a breathtaking mountainous kingdom completely surrounded by South Africa. Circular in shape and about the size of Belgium, Lesotho has the highest point of any country in the world, exceeding 3280ft above sea level with peaks reaching over 9840ft. An interesting and somewhat entertaining place, it sometimes feels as though you have climbed up to a lost world, with cultural traditions including rainmaking and the unbelievable custom of allowing elderly relatives to be trampled to death by cattle to take the burden of supporting them off their families.
