If you’ve had enough of the beach and are craving a city fix, Madrid is
only 265 miles away offering all the cosmopolitan fixes you require. The
Prado Museum is a must, one of the three great art galleries of Madrid,
the Prado Museum boasts an enormous 7,000 plus collection. Another fun
way to spend the day is at El Rasto Flea Market held every Sunday in
Madrid’s oldest part of town. The El Rastro among the biggest and
brightest of all European markets, is a goldmine for antiques – you just
have to be willing to sift through the sea of junk. The El Rastro will
easily fill a day and with plenty of food stalls and lively bars around
you can do more than just shop. Madrid is also the bullfight capital of
the nation, home of the Goya Chapel and the Royal Palace. It is also a
centre of lively restaurants and bars.
