Playa de El Medano is the main beach on the South coast of Tenerife and is renowned for it’s excellent surfing conditions. With arguably the strongest winds in the Canary Islands, it is particularly good for rolling swell with flat water near the harbour wall. Equipment can be hired from a number of reputable places lining or not far from the beach so there should be no excuse not to hit the waves. There are plenty of cheap but excellent quality self-catering places to stay and a more than generous sprinkling of fairly priced local eateries. With beach barbeques, bars, and bargains galore, El Medano has all the ingredients every surfer needs to have a fantastic time on Tenerife.
