Over looked by stunning mountains and fringed by fine black sandy beaches, the port of San Sebastian is famed for being the point of departure for the first voyage of Christopher Columbus travelling to the Americas. Nowadays, San Sebastian is a great place to visit. There are many cultural attractions, including a number of old mansions and even Christopher Colombus’ house, the Casa de Colón. Check out the first chapel ever constructed on the island, the tiny Ermita de San Sebastian or the gothic style Iglesia de la Virgen de la Asuncion. This quaint little port town is quiet and pretty and perfect for couple of hours of scenic wandering.
