Lanzarote - Haria’s One Thousand Palm Tree Village

Lanzarote sightseeing, attractions and online travel guide

Encircled by volcanoes the Haria valley with its sleepy little village in many ways resembles a North African oasis town. According to legend the thousand palms came about through a tradition of planting trees to commemorate births – one for a girl two for a boy. The friendly little village of Haria is a quintessential Lanzarote settlement filled with craggy old women in straw hats, children playing in the streets and donkeys pulling overloaded carts. In the centre there are several quaint bars and restaurants that cater for the thousands of tourists who come for a taste of authenticity… and it’s delicious.
