Every Sunday El Rastro, Madrid’s oldest part of town comes alive with bustle and bargains. Located close to Madrid's Plaza Mayor, this market dates back 500 years. Although there's lots of junk, you can find some interesting pieces. The El Rastro among the biggest and brightest of all European markets is a goldmine for antiques – you just have to be willing to sift through the sea of junk. The El Rastro will easily fill a day and with plenty of food stalls and lively bars around you can do more than just shop.
